Career Coach – Austin, TX (or Virtual) – Starting Over At 50

Starting over after age 50 seems like an overwhelming task. I am a career coach in Austin (but work with people in all locations).

Career Coach Austin - https://thomsinger.com With the COVID crisis and post-COVID changes to the workforce, many people who are in the middle of their lives are feeling the pressure.  For many the idea of a career coach seems confusing and there are so many to choose from.  If you have never worked with a career coach before, you should have calls with four or five to see what they have to offer (and to make sure it is the right fit for your situation, personality, and goals). After all, what is good career coaching vs. not so good? The answers will be known only on the other side of the project.

If your career path has become unclear you are not alone. The coaching process will help you realize that many people these days are starting over at 50, and many have the most productive years of their lives in the second half. When I turned fifty there were many things happening in my life that brought on the need for change.  I adopted the philosophy that I would make age 50 to 75 the best years of my life, and created the motto of “Try New Things”.  It changed my whole outlook on my career and my personal life.  Things began to happen that opened up many opportunities. Then came COVID-19 and my whole career shut down.

But I got scrappy and was not going to let anything stop me from this 25 year pathway to success (now with 21 years left in the journey).  For me it mean taking on a new job while keeping my own business open.  The world had changed quickly and there was nobody around to help me. I had to create a new way to stay focused on building career opportunities.  It was not easy, and it is still a work in progress.  But within a few months of my new plan, fresh opportunities began to appear.

If you are feeling stuck and need someone to help you create a plan, I offer career coaching programs that are customized to your situation.  Together we will start by looking at your LInkedIn profile and resume.  Then I will help you learn to tell your story (in person and online).  Networking, social media, the need (or not) for a cover letter, and basic job search coaching are all part of what we will cover in our time together.
